If you go to site www.old-maps.co.uk and type in 'wallasey' in the search box you will find 6 maps relating to Wallasey. You will have to scroll down a few times to get to the Sherlock Lane area. On map 1(1882) there just seems to be a hint of what could be Austin lane but on map 3(1900) it's not shown. On map 6 (1911) you can just about see Austin Lane along with other roads such as Kendal Road, it seems it was just as short then! Note on map 6 you cannot zoom in. Unfortunately,it is a bit of a slow process navigating about the'old-maps' site and zooming-in on a chosen spot.
