Thanks Jonathon
The friends of williamson tunnels came up with the same name but told me he was born outside liverpool and came here as a young man, and died in 1890
Now in his own words he says he was born on 4th june 1769 or 1770 in liverpool in a street off church street, opposite st peters, he also recolects the launch on 4th june 1775 of the "Mary Ellen" his fathers new slave ship converted into a privateer only 6 years later. Now I doubt he lived to 120 and I have his own admision that he was born in the city had a brother and a sister and parents who like him lived into their 90's. He also speaks of grandchildren.
Still I can find no census returns for any stonehouse's that fit the bill ???
nor can I find info on the "Mary Ellen"
