Cherry Lane is a road of fearsome antiquity. It is called 'Rake Lane' on a map of 1768, probably because of the Rake Farm (nearby neighbours of Cherry Lane Farm) and Rake Hall just to the north along the same road.
Rake Lane ran from Walton Village to the wilds of Clubmoor.
