History of Speke Estate

Looking for any information about Speke Housing estate. In particular the area bound by Western Avenue to Alderfield Drive and Hale Road. Any historical info on The Dam Woods (now John Lennon Airport)the Millwoods, Alderwoods. I lived there from 1947 to 1962 but never learned the history.
