Re:'Under-the-Bridge'street names: Otway and Marlow were part of a group which also included Shakespeare and Byron Streets ; the 'namer' seems to have had some literary pretensions as these are all names of English writers; Thomas Otway was a 17th century playwright; Christopher Marlow a 16thc. dramatist. a,was Willy Shakespeare - Lord Byron the 19thC poet seems to be the odd man out! Can't help much with Leeming this was a little street joining Banks Rd. to Raglan Street; its companions were Neptune and Whitley Strrets -can't see any connections between them.! Similarly with Saunby Street. In the late 40's I lived at 19 ,Vulcan Street which backed onto Saunby street which then boasted a large 'Debris' or bombed site where a number of houses had been demolished by a direct bomb-hit during the war. A recent drive round these old haunts shows that the Corpy have managed to finish off the Luftwaffe's work much more successfully!
