Posted by Phil Halsall on 8/2/2006, 10:27 pm Thank you for creating such an interesting source of information. I am looking into my Halsall family tree and found a strong community in the 1700's & 1800's in Halewood area. They seem at one stage to have lived at Old Manor Hall & farm on Higher Lane (which I have found from your site is modern day Halebank road). Is the location of this residence known (I think I have seen a note of plans on A2A site)? On Greenwood map of lancs 1818, I note a place called Halsall's between Halewood green & Ditton Mill - is this still in existence? I have obtained a few copy Wills of Halsall's from LRO and they mention local surnames such as Langshaw,Rose, Almond, Ellison, Hitchmough & Wainwright as well as the Earl of Derby. Also interested in The English Civil war and how this might have been played out in the area. Any pointers would be helpful & gratefully received. Thanks, Phil
