TENEMENT FLATS
217.35.102.182
Anyone interested in the tenement flats and high rise that housed tens of thousands of families from the 1930s to the 90s may welcome a book that was published last Christmas week. 'In a City Living' features many of these including The Bullring, Kent Gardens, Gerard Gardens, Gerard Crescent, Myrtle Gardens, Woodstocks Gardens, Stanhope House, St. Georges Heights, Tatlock Towers etc including information on when they were built, what it was like living in these usually tight knit communities with the 'square activities' and comraderie amongst the dwellers. There are many sixties street scenes predominately around the Liverpool 3 area and then sadly for some, the break-up of these communities and the demolition of the blocks. My follow-up is in the making which will go back in time to the slum ridden courts and yet more photographs of the tenements which replaced them, covering all those listed above plus many more including Eldon Grove, Chaucer House, Wilbraham House, Sir Thomas White Gardens, Blackstock Gardens, Vauxhall Gardens, Caryl Gardens and Warwick Gardens to name but a few. Thank you to all those that supported my first venture. The many kind words received on the Scottie Press website has led me delve further.
