viewing saved shots

Hey All,
Not sure if I'm putting this post in the right place here, but I'm just curious about something. Is there any way the .SHT file extension for saved shots can be changed so that it can be viewed without having to open Links, i.e. viewing in my documents, or being able to e mail somebody a saved shot so that they can view it? Windows does not recognize the .SHT file extension, and unfortunately I am not knowledgeable enough to realize if there is any way of changing this. Can anybody help? Thanks.
