Posted by Mike McCallum I had the same problem with my Dell Laptop, w/ ATI Mobility Radeon 9000. I had to add the card to the videcard.txt :\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Links 2003\VideoCard.txt where is the letter of the hard disk on which Links 2003 is installed. 3. Locate the line: Vendor = 0x1002 "ATI" This is the beginning of the ATI device listing. 4. Scroll to the end of the ATI device listing. The last device noted in this section should be 0x5656 = "Mach 64" followed by the lines "BrokenAlphaTest" and "TextureOffset" 5. Create an additional line under this section, starting with the device ID copied down from the Dxdiag.txt file. The listing should appear like this: (the device ID in this example is 0x4c66) 0x4c66 = "Mobility Radeon 9000" 6. Click File and then choose Save. Click File and chose Exit. Then I went to http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/ and applied a patch to the latest Catalyst driver, then ran the setup.exe in the ATI/Driver/ directory after expanding the D/L from ATI. --Previous Message--

It turns out that I found an answer.
Within Links 2003 there is a text file "videocard.txt" that can be modified by adding the Video Card ID which is an ATI, and then add the line;
0x5961 = "Radeon 9200 AGP"
NoCopyZInVidMem
This must be added as the last entry under Vendor ID ATI.
Save, close and run Links 2003 and the Frame Rates run at 31-35.
The game is now fixed and I am happy.
Who would have thought that Microsoft would leave out a patch code for my ATI 9200 card.
Thanks everyone for trying.
Mike

Add Mobility Radeon 9000 listing to VideoCard.txt file:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK:
NoCopyZInVidMem
All is well now
: Win XP, 512 DDR RAM, Radeon 9200 128 DDR RAM,
: AMD 1.6 GHz CPU, SB Live audio. Everything is
: fine w/ menus, etc. When I go to play a game,
: everything is choppy. I have latest drivers
: of all my hardware, direct x and game
: version. The suggested fixes avail. on Links
: don't work, any suggestions?
