David Cass at The Links Tour posted the following Instructions to Remove the Introduction Music in Links 2003.

I have seen some comments where some of you don't care for the intro music in Links 2003. So for those who do not like the music and turning down the volume is not a sufficient workaround, here's how to turn it off for good. Downloading this reg file will turn it off automatically, just click on it and run it. This file will only work with XP but one could be created to work on Win9X machines (or see the instructions below).

If you'd prefer to do it yourself, that would be:
1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type: regedit
4. Click OK
5. Click the + next to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
6. Click the + next to: Software
7. Click the + next to: Microsoft
8. Click the + next to: Microsoft Games
9. Click the + next to: Links 2003
10. Click Sound
11. Click Edit, then New, then select String Value
12. Type: Interface Music
13. Right-click Interface Music, select Modify
14. Enter the Value data: 0
15. Click OK
