Posted by Sara I am seven months pregnant with my second child and he has been diagnosed via sonogram with Arthrogryposis. I have so many questions....maybe you have some advice or input. 1.) Which is the best treatment? One ortho specialist told us splinting and casting first, then surgery later, and another told us surgery first and then physical therapy after. 2.) Where do I start with evaluation and treatment? I am fortunate we live so close to children's hospital in Boston and that is where we will take the baby, but who do I see first? Who coordinates all the care he will need? 3.) How much time will we have to spend in the hospital (assuming he does not have a serious underlying condition) Do the surgeries and recovery take a few days, weeks, what? And how often will we be going tothe hospital for PT? Can i do it at home? I want to give my new son every possible advantage to overcome or improve his condition, whatever it may turn out to be.....I want to get a head start with my planning but I am so lost as to where to begin....thank you for reading this.
