My first surgery in January 1981 at the age of 23 in the right groin kept me out of work for five weeks as a shear operator. Second surgery in march of 1981 kept me out of work another 10 months and from there it was down hill. Six surgeries, one post-infection,27 nerve blocks of various drugs such as depro-medrol,amodium-sulfate,cortisone,and others I can't remember the name of.
A one time member of the Chronic Pain Association of North America, Brant County Chapter...
You want the truth or do you want to hear a story besides sitting on a street corner with a hat?
I live in Ontario, Canada .....no longer the welfare state....people are dying on the streets here too!
The truth is an injured person is either meant to be housed by the state or by family. Unless that person has private funding through insurance or personal wealth.
Being housed by the state usually requires a person to exist in questionable conditons. Family of the injured party is best to seek out another avenue of support. Difficult to support healthy people let alone one who is injured.
Now then either an injury totally disables you or you support your family. If you do not support your family someone else will.
btw after all of those surgeries , I am now also an acquired brain injury survivor. However I am looking to get help myself...just seen your story and thought I would put my two cents in for those that do not have a computer to write this on.
