Posted by Sheri This would mean a great deal to this family and they would very much like to talk to someone about AMC.

I am a case worker with the Tennessee Department of Children's Services. I work with a family: Mom and Dad and a beautiful little boy born in February of 2005 with AMC. They are quite economically stressed and do not have a computer. They have a very hard time; but the worst of it all is that they feel quite alone in coping with their son's disabilities because they know of NO ONE who is like him. His Mom would welcome very much the opportunity to write, or speak to someone on the telephone, who is going through what she and her husband are with their wonderful little boy, or perhaps someone who is older and can speak to her of how her son might feel or do in the future. Like some of the notes I've read on this site, the doctors have told her that he'll not be able to do anything, although he seems quite smart and we all have high hopes. He can't talk yet and he just had both feet (club feet) operated on last month; he's doing fine and healing well. He will have surgery again in September to have his adenoids removed so that he will be able to breathe better. He gets physical therapy and spends a lot of time going back and forth to the doctors.
If there is someone who would be willing to speak with this family and share some of their story with them via letters or telephone, they would be so very grateful and it would really brighten their life. If so, please contact me. By law, I cannot give out their name here because it would be violating a privacy rule. But, If you contact me and give me permission, I can give them your name and number and then they can contact you.
Thank you
