And still you must know the poem sprouts within the well spring of the spirit, like the stem of of a water lily that bursts into wide facets of bloom. That bloom shudders in the light both awakening to the intensity of fate and expressing its own vulnerability. Without vulnerability, the poem lacks depth and the ability to both show and inspire feeling. Feeling defines experience, frames its meaning with sensory insight and allows the words to breathe. Breath is the impetus of the spirit, the fire of creation which is fueled by a hihger being, a higher power, something that propels art and the artist
to exist and celebrate his or her existence with a faith in life and its undefinable value. Yes, there is still more, more beyond this to understanding the gift of a poem and its power to challenge and inspire the human mind, to soften and enrich the heart, to deepen faith and belief in oneself and others.........and still there is more. yes indeed!
