I find this a very interesting look inside a model's (and wife's) psyche. Too often we see the colour on the canvas without realizing that much of it may simply be window-dressing, an attempt to mold and frame someone in the artist's image rather than the artist capturing something true within his subject. Perhaps, ultimately, this is what creativity is: using a model or a story or something as a mirror in which the artist sees him/herself reflected. Or is it? Is there an intangible something to grasp? I believe you raise the question very brilliantly here.
