I may have found you out,
subtle buddha,
combing coarse snarls,
seeking your thin elegance-
a single strand
of silver.
yesterday I finally raked my row.
I turned it without comment,
finding pottery shards
and bone.
I gnashed and tore and bit.
before that I howled.
before that I wept beneath gibbous moons,
imperial suns,
the gauzy purple shroud of dusk.
now I am still and I feel.
now I am silent and I hear.
now my eyes are dry and I see.
I may have found you out,
subtle buddha.
