As you know I had always regarded Ukraine my parent country, great Britain being second. Interesting that my father continued WWII on behalf of MI6 in the late 40's and early 50's. Kim Philby put the kibosh on many of the clandestine incursions into the Western Ukraine, but I digress (that's how I got my Brit papers by the way). Ironic that we are still facing those same issues my Dad faced in early 1950. It may well come down to little "Tommy Atkins" brandishing the latest NATO rifle d'jour versus little Ivan Brodsky totting the latest version of the AK 47 in some God-forsaken hole in the ground. The implied threat from Putin to go nuclear does give me the willies though. The money aspect I think is minor, an irritant to Putin yes, but where his ego is concerned, inconsequential. He is a barbarian. We are dealing with the Slavic mind here after all. It would be a mistake to ascribe western values to him. Remember Joseph Stalin said Russians will cry over a birch tree in a meadow, but one million dead...that is just a statistic. Does turn one's blood cold does'nt it Tony?
