Thinking about the old wild days of Kluang, (and after). There was a bunch of us left in '69, took redundancy. Quite a few of us later got jobs with Bristows; in 1970 I was in Duri, Sumatra with them.
Altogether I spent 9 years in the Far East - Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore - before drifting back to UK, and B.E.A.S. at Coventry Airport, then Libya, Nigeria, Dubai, Saudi, and finally, Spain. Finished my heli (hellish ?) career with Bond Helicopters, Lincolnshire, 1983 - 86.
Over those years I bumped into [should have gone to Specsavers] Smiley Richardson, Stu Carr, Chris Dillon, Rob Campbell-Lent, Phil Fougere and probably other, forgotten, Kluangites.
It was a great job/lifestyle but it came to an end for me when I became a parent of two and domestic bliss (and duty) obliged me to put down roots. Getting fired from Bond (they called it redundancy), I set up a removals business in an industrial estate just across the road; that was 1987, and 28 years later, aged 69, I'm still doing it. The good news is, I just sold the business premises, and retirement beckons.
So endeth the biopic ! Could this become a trend ?
I'd be interested to read all about the way Kluangite's careers have panned out !
