Summer will soon be amongst us, so it is time to get ready to repel midges and mosquitoes as it’s not cost effective to buy the vino gut rot to drink a way to keep mossis away, may I remind folk to use some effective anti midge/mosquito repellent. Practical user trials have shown that only those repellents that contain DEET are up to the job. DEET is the common name for Diethyl Toluamide. If the repellent has it, it is extremely effective, if it doesn't, it isn't. For Brits, Boots the Chemist sells suitable stuff, but beware!!! Both the DEET stuff and the non-DEET stuff are similarly packaged. Also, I've never worked out why pumps and sprays are so popular. The pumps cost more and weigh more, and it's difficult to get the last little bit out.
If the hot sun persuades you to have a swim, then don't forget to re-DEET your body when you emerge from the water.
I guess that no-one needs to be reminded to apply sun-screen before hastening out in to the sun. Sun burnt and bronzed bodies are very much more liable to skin cancers but then again at our age we aint goin worry that much after a few I zikky zum bars and a skin full of vino .
