Faint memories of NAAFI breaks from the wksps when we would go to a little room under the water tower. Another alternative was a local’s shack nearby to the hangars area where for a wind up we would start a discussion about the previous evening showing of Batman or similar TV programmes, then sit back quietly to listen to all the comments for and against. Place was always full! Can’t recall what we drank or ate in either of these haunts but do remember the smoky haze. Why did we visit these places instead of going to the Blades or the mess? Neither was to far to walk to. Is my memory playing tricks?
