Decisions Decisions !!!!
One of the minor problems for boaters to deal with is a "Keys dropped over the side of the boat" situation.
The traditional solution is to attach the keys to a ball of cork, but the ball is so big that it barely fits into a pocket.
A few years ago, the 'Waterbuoy' was a success story in the Dragons' Den, and it is now available in most chandleries. The up-side is that it looks good and works well. When the Waterbuoy, with keys dangling from its key-ring, hits the water, it sinks down a bit, and then releases a balloon, which brings it to the surface … with the keys. I understand that it can lift a considerable number of keys. It costs about £12.
It now has a challenger. Maplins are selling a thing like an elongated plastic egg with a key ring attached. The egg is buoyant enough to lift three or four keys. When in the water, it lights up. It costs some three or four quid.
So!! Does one buy the expensive one that looks good, will rescue a whole bunch of keys, but which is a one shot product? Or does one buy the cheapo model, that can only lift a limited number of keys, but which lights up and is reusable.
It's a tricky decision!!
So tits till next time,
