Did you blow it? Well it’s sure the start of a new week well on the way to the golden eagle crapping again and its Monday the longest day of the year. I think we used to have a run on this day can any one recall it.
Remember the old days hens crowing as you stir with the sun shining through the slats George slipping by on his flip flops with a brush and dustpan in his hand boots ready always a smile on his face with his black tash and curly hair and then you’d think where the hell was I last night? Head throbs a bit as you throw the towel round you stagger to the shower passing vosa camma (camma is a room in Spanish And vossa was big ) out of the basha and shit just stubbed your toe. Health and safety wouldn’t allow that now . Things just don’t seem to get better. Probably the pads had a better weekend with culinary delight so back to food this will bring back memories of food we miss and Gordon Ramsey can’t match this ever or any feast in the future witterrings.

THE MILK OF HUMAN KINDNESS
There are several things about the Army that I really miss. One is the 24 hour rat pack (not Sinatra & Co )(rat = ration) - a box that holds all one's food for 24 hours. Oatmeal blocks that one could die for. Hard tack biccies that are the ideal accompaniment for cheese the old tin stuff (good for fishing john and can usefully double up as knuckle dusters) and ... wait for it ... condensed milk. YummmmYYYYY!!!!
I've not had any for a long time, as even a small tin is a bit too much to scoff-off all in one go. However, I've just found out that tubes (like toothpaste tubes) of it are available. The latest cooking sensation is apples, peeled, cored and sliced into a baking tray, bit of butter, slurp of wine, dash of rum, shake of balsamic vinegar, and a drenching of brown sugar, all baked in a medium oven for about 60 minutes, put into a bowl and topped with lashings of condensed milk. Scrummy, and for sensation seekers only!!!
Give it a try and if any of the oppos has a me and you put it up and we can dedicate a page to culinary feasts .
More to follow tits in the next issue .
Happy munching Magic
