I learn so much and it helps me keep in-step with Russ who is like a living baseball encyclopedia. Enjoyed reading your thoughts on the recent moves made by your Mets. Benson and Zambrano should solidify your rotation. Yes, I know what you mean about trading away good prospects though. The Orioles did the same thing in June or in early July, giving away one of our young stud pitchers Denny Bautista for a thirty-six or thirty-seven year old reliever in Jason Grimsley. We desperately needed some help in our pen. Anyway, Zambrano got the W yesterday for you guys and I think he will be a good pick-up. Benson was fairly inconsistent during his years with the Pirates, but I am hoping that coming to NY....different city, different atmosphere, different team.... might be good for him. Russ isn't totally sold yet on Wigginton, but the more he sees of him, the more he will like him. And yes, Bob Murphy was a Hall of Fame type announcer from everything I have read about him.
