I'm the friend Amy is referring to, she asked me to come and post something here.
I think the first year is the hardest, but there may always be times in your life where you will miss her. The get less frequent, and less painful, but even now, even though I'm quite a bit older than you, I do have the occasional moment where I want nothing more than to be able to call her and chat just one more time. Mostly whenever something 'big' happens in my life.
And yes, it's the 'milestones' that are harder. My brother had just turned 24 when our mum died, and I still think it's 'not fair' that she won't be there when he gets married, or when he has children.
But it's true, it does get easier as time goes by. The anniversary of her death this year was not nearly as hard as last year.
