Posted by kjane (post) on 2/8/2006, 12:08 am, in reply to "where should i be?" I lost my mother to breast cancer when I was a sophomore in college, so I know a bit of the stuggle you're going through right now. I lived about 2000 miles away from my mom, so when she urged me to continue on with my life and not drop everything and go to her, I listened. I regret that to this day. I'm sure many people will tell you to stay at school, but I truly believe that taking some time off of school cannot be the worst thing for you. Just make a plan to go back at a specified time. Your dad will tell you not to come home, but I'm sure he would love your company. I wasn't there for the worst parts of my mom's illness, and many would say that was a blessing, but I just regret missing ANY of my mom's last moments. I hope this helps you, I'm sorry if I rambled, it's still (4 1/2 years after her death) very difficult to talk about this specific topic. I feel extremely guilty about not being there, even though she had my step-dad. ANyway, I hope my viewpoint can help you make a decision. Good luck, and I hope your dad pulls through.
