If you just want 800 ability it will be cheaper, if you want trunking ability then you will spend a little more. I think virtually all the scanners availble now will operate on VHF ( the 150'ish range) Good luck in your decision !

Well , NIck myself personally I dont think I could live without my Uniden BC780. This is one of the top of the line scanners , that will follow the trucked system of just about anyone (with the exception of Digital)
