These klips are some good tools that would show how a spinning tire reacts to making contact with the approved side pods that are mandated in today's racing most everywhere.
Looking at this mishap in this video also reminds me a little of the latest mishap at the Indy car race in Toronto with Tracy, Castroneves, Moraes and Viso.
I am beginning to wonder if they are only good for displaying sponsors names/stickers now?
How are these designs tested for the safety features that they are supposed to offer?
And what does this extra stuff that is on our karts protect us racers from????
Each other? unsafe tracks? Risk... err what?
Long ago formula cars and go-karts never had side pods. Some still don't!...It's all very mixed up.
