When I made my return to go-karting in 96-97, I purchased a pass at one of the local tracks for the season to do laps in my own go-kart. (Rowing machine) Sometimes I would have to wait to lap because of a unique race club that had rented the track that day. This race club had a very unique idea that kept competition fair and affordable for the racer. I believe this private club owned the go-karts and engines that were available on race day. Racers never knew what kart they would wind up with on race day! This series allowed many people a chance to race outdoor karts, but not have to buy one. This concept seems to be the roots of the Arrive and Drive race series. Was this concept helpful to the overall go-kart industry? Why I ask is because in the old,old days at FKL, go-kart owners were able to store their private go-karts and stuff in rented storage containers at the track.(old truck trailers) Private kart owners seemed to come out and visit the track more often with this old fashion commodity. Plus you did not see as many expensive go-kart trailers and trucks at a simple club race. The rental go-karts at that time were sorta lame with speed and handling which may have intrigued some to purchase a faster go-kart of their own. simple vintage grass roots Honda go-karting for the go-kart owner! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- commodity noun a raw material or primary agricultural product that can be bought and sold, such as copper or coffee. a useful or valuable thing, such as water or time.
