When I got back into karting I was turned off at the amount of down time there is between races on race day due to the combining of the two classes (4 stroke, 2 stroke)
I remember a conversation I had with a father of two young potential racers that made comment about his young kids would get very bored with the long waits between their races.
This problem can be compounded when you and your kart team come to the track totally prepared. Or the mechanic (parent) does not include the young ones in the mechanical responsibilities that goes with go-kart racing.
On race day long ago, karters would be able to warm up with alot more laps before each actual race started.
Long warmup was good because this is where confidence was gained just before
you gave it all you got in the race.
Having one or two laps prior to a race is dangerous and not smart to do.
Although I understand there are alot of classes and this is why it is done this way now.
If you think?... A split could offer everybody more!
and if you don't?...
Hurry up and wait!
