The question I see being asked so many times is what class of go-kart is best to start out with?
Based on my experience with both 4 stroke and 2 stroke go-karts I would have to say common sense should kick in and the answer would be a simple 4 stroke overhead valve engines with a pull start feature.
These engines offer go-karting world wide availability for parts and service if needed.
Promoted properly, this fact could be a huge selling feature to Go-karting worldwide.
This could lessen the need for that new hypo model engine of the week expense that most think they can handle but can't and implement a "put your money where your mouth is" engine claiming cost control system back in go-karting to make it more fair, attractive and more affordable to stay in.
Good drivers would find out if they are really good or if its just a special engine made just for you!
Go-kart chassis adjustment would be a true test to human competitiveness.
And most important could be a good starting point at slow to fast go-kart licenceing system
MORE ingenuity could go into Go-kart chassis to accommodate small, medium and larger pilots.
This should be done so go-karting does not to leave anybody out because of their size.
As for the car racer that needs to keep in touch with smooth driving, I have heard people say most race cars are similar to a 4 stroke go-karts as far as handling and I believe the slower speed 4 strokes offers more time for pilots to learn to sip instead of gulp and keep in close touch with tire scrub control and momentum which is crutial to moving on to higher speed anything.
Many racers these days show me they have not learned the basics of what go-karting supposed to offer even though thats what they started with.
The Questions that should also be asked is:
Who and what teaches one to drive, maintain and repair a go-kart properly at our tracks once we buy in to go-karting?
and another question,
Isn't the whole idea of growth to get MORE, NEW and keep the existing people at all go -kart tracks available instead of what seems to be a competition for the existing people in karting for your OWN agenda racing series?
When you think about go-kart advertising...Try to make it last for more then 3 days outside of karting....if you can understand what I mean? More on this later.
uhh! What Class?
