In the beginning of Honda 4 stroke racing any engine that was raced at the club could be claimed by ANYONE within 15 minutes after the checkered flag was dropped.
The purchase claiming price for a Honda G-200 was $150.00 in 1974.
This claiming rule was used to discourage anyone from using special racing equipment or know how... It was also to keep Honda 4 stroke a simple place for New people that wanted to learn how to drive, race and most important it kept it fare for all.
The cost of entry was more reachable for the masses. The learning curve was easier and one less reasons to blame why you couldn't win.
