In the old days of amateur karting we never had to go through the unnecessary expense and unnecessary effort that we do today with the mandate rule of rain tires....
We did not use them at all ! We ALL used the same slicks as we did on dry days.
Running in a Modern day championship season (club or regional) can eat up that karting budget fast if you use a set of rain tires at each race this year.
Remember the weather is unpredictable. And for some it can be very costly.
