On the cost subject, Do vega blue(sticky) wear out faster then vega reds(hard)? Remember Safety First: A kart with stickier compound tires is harder to slide sideways and side impact accidents are more severe. Less give on impact. Also remember most important for all you fast guys, the extra weight of the label on the tires will slow you down..Especially on your rear end.
While Surfin the Ontario Kart Wave lately, I could not help but notice some tire regulations that were posted at one of our clubs.
There must be another good reason for us to have the added ONT stickers on all of our sticky race tires?
More revenue for Ontario label makers?
Should Kart Track owners be the only tire supplier? Hmmm?
Do we need more kart shops selling tires and parts? Hmmm?
When hard compound tires are used, side impact accidents are less harsh because of less grip.
A Kart would slide more with harder compound tires. More give on impact and they also have longer wear.
Kart control would be more up to the pilot and not the tires.
When tire to tire contact happens with sticky tires the cohesion of rubber is more and would pull karts on top of another with this type of contact.
Sticky compound tires wear out faster and make up for poor driving and chassis tuning.
hehe.
