Posted by kartguy on 7/5/2007, 10:31 am Individual lead pucks should not be over 5 lbs. Driving a kart with a cracked or damaged fiberglass seat is very dangerous. Never mount lead weight on the floor pan or any flexing frame part. Check how you mount your lead...or the karter behind you will have lead on the brain!!!
Abandoning the max total weight rule of a kart of 200lbs is adding danger to Ontario karting.
Why was it changed? And who changed it?
Who and what was so convincing to make this change?
They should be mounted individually with 3/8 aircraft quality bolts and double lock nuted.
When lead pucks are mounted on seats, use the specially made aluminum beveled seat washers where you sit and thin flat plastic washers (that come with a Tillet seat) under the lead to absorb vibrations.
Also a large thick metal washer under the 2 lock nuts should do the job well!![]()
All kart racers follow! don't they?
re-think
