Posted by kartguy on 6/27/2007, 9:24 am Karting seems to have been made more dangerous. I have also witnessed that lead karters do not time there important pass at the right moment on the track with oncoming lapped traffic. It's the leaders that have the most responsibility when passing a lapped karter. This could be fixed going to shorter heat style races and more practice, warm up time. Some karters/crew can easily burn out a nice expensive set of new tires with the added amount of laps in a single race on a hot day.
Kart races that are too long allow the faster karters THE TIME to catch karters running at the back of the pack.
And by that time, karts don't handle that well because of over heated tires and pilots.
More time for things to go wrong as witnessed.
Leaders have THE massive responsibility to do this and also pass with care/respect and don't rely on a blue flag to clear the way for you!
There are others racing and trying to control there kart.
Why do the good things change?
Karting was great when karting was karting and not f1 if you know what I mean
