Posted by kartguy on 5/13/2007, 8:41 am Back then, the grid marshall would send our karters out for qualifying one at a time. The grid marshall would ALSO make certain that there was enough space between each karter so they could not join up on the track and do team karting. Two karts running close together (drafting) allows both karts to be faster than one kart hitting the wind alone.
In the days of old karting, we looked at the growth of karting and not so much the growth of one individual driver (person) - rules were made for different reasons....
The only time you should be able to draft would be in the race.
Allowing the karters to join forces in qualifying creates a very unfair look to the sport of karting, and an unfair advantage for some teams in our amateur sport of karting.
Please watch out for what others can notice and not like about our fine sport of amateur karting.
