It was so humid paper ballots jammed optical scan ballot machines in the Grand Rapids Community College millage election on Tuesday, August 7. Due to the close result (it lost by 361 votes out of 65,377) and irregularities caused by high humidity, a recount is expected. It turns out August 7 was the most humid day this summer in Kalamazoo, so far. The dew point topped out at 76 on that day and didn't go below 70. The only days this summer we have had humidities in the 70s were from August 5 to 9, after we finally got the first significant rain since July 17. In the entire month of July, Kalamazoo received only .7 inch of rain. In June we received 1.96 inches of rain, with .97 inch falling on June 3. It probably won't get that humid again for the rest of the year. At the time of this post, it is 82 °F with 47 °F dew point at the airport in Kalamazoo.
