Posted by messer With Kalamazoo gas currently in the $2.849 to $2.919 range, I expect prices to continue falling for at least another week (possibly two), unless a significant event occurs. Two weeks from now we'll be entering the Labor Day holiday period, so I predict gas prices will next go up on Wednesday or Thursday, August 30 or 31, unless a significant event occurs in the meantime. Week 31 - THU AUG 3 - $3.199 Week 32 - THU AUG 10 - DID NOT GO UP THIS WEEK Oil closed Wednesday at $71.89 per barrel.

The gasoline futures market has tanked since Kalamazoo gas prices last went up, two weeks ago Thursday, despite British Petroleum's partial shutdown of the Prudhoe Bay, Alaska oil field. This week's market forecasts retail prices in the $2.619 to $2.759 range. According to my records, Wednesday, April 19 was the last time gas in the Kalamazoo area was below $2.70, when it fell to $2.689 before going up to $2.899 later that day. This time last year, gas in the Kalamazoo area went up to a then new record high of $2.799 on Monday, August 15. 115
