Posted by Dabber on 6/3/2006, 10:54 am, in reply to "Message Board" With regards to Tp - whilst not agreeing with the way he goes about airing his views, generally he has a point........in so much as local football (i.e. Unibond, NWCFL etc) is a good place for young players to 'learn their trade'. However, clubs have to be run correctly, and to survive in what are very competitive leagues there needs to be a balance. A team of 17 year olds would not last more than a season in either of the aformentioned leagues. Therefore, the correct mix of youth and experience is the PROVEN way to go. Tp obviously feels that not enough youngsters are given their chance at that level, if that is the case, then why not setup your own club, based on the principle of allowing youngsters to prove themselves on a week to week basis, in a competitive league like the Springbank.....surely if they are good enough to play in NWCFL they should stroll through the Springbank??? On a final word about DT and AB at Kidsgrove - they have given local youngsters a chance (Matt Rhead, Daniel Biegus, Mark Fitton etc), and considering the resources they have had at their disposal - have done a bloody fine job.

Feel it would be a huge shame to shut down the messageboard, for the simple reason it gives people the opportunity to catch up on what is going on at the club as a whole, including the youth teams.
