Not to fault my snake in any way, but I've found my female brb (2 years old next month) a somewhat dull captive in comparison to my boa constrictors. She hides literally 100% of the time; she moves around only under cover of total wee-hours darkness. She does not, either, appear as unfazed and accepting of handling as the bci do. She doesn't strike or anything, but she seems inclined to get down, hide, and be left alone. All in all she is a noble animal -- beautiful, docile, thoroughly inoffensive -- and I enjoy having her, but if I were myself looking for a snake fitting your parameters knowing what I know now, I might think about a small variety of boa constrictor, maybe a Hog Island. Just my .02 -- good luck whatever you do, and sorry about your corn snake.
