My father sang this song to me when I was a very small child. It was one of the few songs he every sang and I would be interested to know where he learned the song. He was born in 1908 in NSW. The words of the song are certainly very policitally incorrect today and I only remember the beginning of the song "lilac trees are blooming, etc" and "stay in your own backyard", so I am sure Dad didn't know anywhere near all the words. Maybe it was something he overheard as a child and could only remember bits and pieces.
