Let's beat the nicobeast together!
Posted by Ann on 5/27/2001, 1:40 pm When your kids or grandkids are being awful, zapping your energy, stressing you out making you mad, doing stupid stuff, ruining your good things, losing your expensive things, scaring you to death.....what is a parent to do? What if, when we were at our wits end, we just said "I don't wanna be a parent to these children anymore" "I'm too tired" "I want some peace" "I'm too depressed" "It's just too overwhelming and hard". Most would not consider this but for a moment and then toss the thought away. Why? Because most parents love their children unconditionally. Same goes for most people taking care of elderly parents. We don't just give up when things get too hard. That is pretty cool...unconditional love. When we quit smoking, it is an act of love towards ourselves. My goal is to love myself as unconditionally as I would my child and therefore not smoke. I am NOT putting anyone down for venting or slipping or anything else. Been there, done that. But I am trying to put a different spin on what quitting really is all about. Unconditional Love Towards Oneself. Peggy, QuitNet
Many of us have children, some have grandchildren and many have living parents.
