With certain lines it can take up to 24 months before there first full heat. I know Cheryl told me once that her SS line didn't come in until 18-22 months, most of the time. I know some of the 100% Johnson lines come in around that time too. Although I have a 100% Johnson b###h that just came in at 12 months old too. Every line is different and sometimes everydog is too. I wouldn't get worried about a dog coming into heat until they are over 18 months. If they go past 24 than I would have to do a full work up with a reproduction specialist to determine if there are any breeding issues that are genetic and would be passed on the offspring. Sometimes you can never pinpoint why they come in late. If it's the only female on your yard than she may come in late because of that. If you have a lot of females coming into heat on a regular basis than they may come in early, around 6-10 months.
