Friday, July 31st, marks the 45th anniversary of Jim's passing. Fans around the world will pause to remember Jim's contributions to the world of country music. DJs both here in the States and abroad, especially in the UK, will have special programs to commemorate Jim. By all accounts Jim was a class act. He was loved by millions of fans and his family. Some folks will look upon this as a sad occasion. Some will take the opportunity to revisit their collection of Jim Reeves songs.
Last week, on the 25th, my dad, John Rex, did a tribute show dedicated to Jim's music in Henderson, TX. People still love his music. Just this week my dad and mom, Neva, stopped by the Jim Reeves memorial to pay homage. They were joined by the local newspaper, The Panola Watchman, and by KGAS radio. One of Jim's biggest fans, Ms. Myrtle Mattis of Queens, New York, has purchased a beautiful wreath designed in the shape of the cross. It now sits at the foot of Jim's statue.
There will never be another Jim Reeves. His impact on country and popular music will endure.
I'm going to mark this day by listening to Jim's lps. I hope you will, too.

Great country music is a Reeves family tradition.
