However one thing is certain, Jim Reeves is the best singer who ever sang a song! I'm sure Mr. Reeves had good days and bad days, fought with his wife some times and got along with her some times. I'm sure he met people who became friends and maybe a few people who were not friends. Kind of like all of us, he was human! People can say what they want about Mr. Reeves, one thing can not be denied; HE COULD SING! He could sing very well. When he sang it was clean and clear, you could hear and understand every word. He could put feeling in the song without screaming or running the scale on every whole note. His music was beautiful and calming. It also was rousing and uplifting. He could make you want to laugh or cry, miss your dad or your sweetheart. He could make you feel close to God with his Gospel songs. He could do all this without screaming or note hunting as so called soul singers do! He was the consumate soul singer. Mr. Reeves sang directly to the soul. He touched our emotions directly! Quietly! Softly! Now that he is gone I am as close to him as anyone else. He lives in my memory and heart. He lives in the music he left behind and that is petty good gift he left us. Every time I play a record of his he lives on; I think I'll play one now. Bill Duncan

I never knew Mr. Reeves, or met him, but have been a fan of his for about 50 years.

Great country music is a Reeves family tradition.
