Hey Jim, back in my younger days I had a
Marlin 30.30 lever action. Mostly I used it
without a scope and became very good up to
60 or 70 yards or so with my sites. I really loved
that rifle. I had a friend who was my hunting buddy in those days and he used a custom made
bolt action 300 H&H Magnum. It didn't even have
sites just a very nice scope.
My 30.30 was truly fun to shoot. I can't say that about most high powered rifles. His kicked like a mule. My graphics person has a Russian rifle used in WWII . Think it used a 308 or equivilant shell. It kicked too . Amazingly accurate though for a rifle that was so old.
Been 35 years since I have been hunting so the only guns I have is a Marlin semi auto 22 and a
Co2 Daisy BB pistol. It has killed a few troublesome squirrels.
