Most of us here ( few exceptions)probably can not say that they have been on the ground floor of a new industry.
In this Industry, I surely have seen many companies (manufacturing) come and go. I think I recently listed about 19-20 of them.
However, I clearly remember , IMHO, that I was as close to the beginning as anyone. I remember back in 1970, the Hot Water Extraction Industry was just taking off the ground.
Common place was: One cord, Single vacuum, 37 psi, 10-12 feet of hoses and a 6 jet wand. The higher performance HWE machines had 2 separate tanks; 100 psi (positive displacement); single vacuum bypass; and a drag back heavy floor tool with 8 jets.
Then it evolved from there.
But, as the Industry evolved and "aged", so have all of us. I have seen those whom I have known, as unfortunate as it is, pass away. Even in tragic situations such as 9/11 in the Towers.
Others from cancer, other diseases, personal tragacies, etc... Those whom were more fortunate have retired and are enjoying their just rewards.
It has been said that we all will eventually ride into the Sunset. Well, it doesn't necessarily mean immediately turning off the lights, but rather, having some terrific memories along the way. The way we lived our lives; had interaction with those whom we have met along the way.
For myself, I have been blessed and have a lot of great memories. Hope you have too!
Best to all;
Ed Valentine
