We all make mistakes however, I was told by a very good dealer of ours the following that may sometimes be true with a little humor ofcourse:
"You can make a machine Fool-Proof; but, you can not make it Idiot-Proof!"
Just when you think you have heard it all, another twisted situation comes down the pike. What is sometimes very difficult for us is that whenever the occasional Operator calls about what he labels as "a problem", he sometimes is very negative. The majority of the times, he doesn't want to be proven wrong so "there has to be someting wrong with the equipment" rather than the Operator............right?
It is a tough situation because it forces us to "walk on eggs" at times rather than quickly get to the bottom of it and comment "Operator error" and here's the quick solution.
I would have to say that many do not read the Manual, period, because if they did, they would save themselves alot of time, aggravation, and phone calls, and job loss.
Vacuum lid on backwards; not cleaning lint filters; foam (water) pouring out bottom or exhaust port; not using an Anti-Foam when required; plugging into the same outlets; and yes, even leaving their dump valve opened!
Those would be 95% of the situations and very easy to rectify....."IF".....they would read the manual.
Now, with winter around the corner, it'll be real interesting: "There's something wrong with my pump, its leaking...........no I didn't freeze it"! (ya, sure!--LOL)
great topic.
