The indentations are often of a treble nature;
- Flattening of the pile.
- Stretching of the base structure.
- Thinning of the substrate.
The methods suggested will have some impact on the first of these.
With the second, most of the carpets you will encounter over there will have a base structure of polypropolene and latex compound. Damage to these will be permanent in nature.
With the third, replacement of that area of underlay will be the only resolution.
Consequently, though the degree of improvement you achieve will vary, total reversal is rarely possible.
