Hello Jim,
Most of the carpets I clean are wool or wool-rich, which shed much, much more fluff than their plastic counterparts. Yet I no longer use the filter baskets in my Scorpion. After many months of checking them after every job and never once found one in need of cleaning, I experimented by inserting fine-mesh disks.
As a result of this I have not used the filter baskets for the past few years, preferring the additional airflow afforded.
Please be clear that I am not recommending that everyone does likewise but there is obviously something different in the way in which we use our machines and I was wondering just what that may be. Do you thoroughly dry vacuum with a commercial upright? Do you allow your solution tank to exceed two-thirds full?
Please let me make it clear that there is no implied criticism in my post - just an old engineers' curiosity.
